Rohs european directives, how does tech air comply?

Upon investigation and after discussions held with the UK Department of Trade and Industry, we can confirm that our laptop carry case products, as they are not in themselves electrical or electronic equipment, although they are of course made with the intention to carry electrical and electronic equipment, sit outside the remit of this legislation.

The legislation does however apply to our electronic computer peripheral products. As a result of this, Tech air takes the necessary steps to ensure that all of the affected products, including components and sub assemblies of those products, do not contain the restricted substances outlined in the RoHS directive and should they do so, that the levels of those restricted substances are below the accepted threshold.

In order to support this claim, Tech air are able and happy to provide certificates for each of our electronic products is requested by our customers.

Reach directives, how does tech air comply?

REACH is a European Union regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of CHemicals.

After reviewing the detail of this regulation and discussing the details with the relevant authorities, it is clear that the main parts of the regulation are not relevant to us and our products. Under the duty of producing and importing an “Article” we do have a duty to communicate to our customers [distributors, retailers, resellers etc] ONLY if;  1. one of the 15 listed SVHC’s is used in the process / manufacturing of any of our materials and fittings AND 2.       the total weight of that SVHC is more than 0.1% of the total weight of the finished laptop bag.

At the present time, to the best of our knowledge, this is not the case. However, we will continue to monitor the situation and if circumstances should change in the future we will, as the regulation requires, communicate the details to our customers.
